Showing in Open Houses
I am a fine art photographer based on the Wirral peninsula. Having spent most of my life living a stone's throw from the coast, my work is mainly inspired by the shifting sands, dune systems and ever-changing skies that I encounter on daily walks close to my home and during frequent visits to the Western Isles of Scotland, particularly the Outer Hebridean islands of Lewis and Harris.
Whatever the location, I am fascinated by the changing relationships between light, shape and form. I love the breathing space and sense of calm that being out in the landscape gives me and hope to evoke some of this emotion through my work. I use both digital and film cameras, alternating between the two depending on the subject and look I am trying to achieve. I exhibit regularly and my work is represented by galleries in the North West of England and on the Outer Hebridean Isle of Lewis. In 2012 I received the Photographer of the Year award from Practical Photographer magazine. As a self taught photographer, I also enjoy helping others to master new techniques and run regular one-to-one workshops.
