I’m a potter and maker living and working in North Leeds and The Potting Studio is home to my ceramic creations. I’m a graduate in fine art and experimental textiles and have always had an interest in designing and making things.
I discovered a love for pottery over 15 years ago and now pot from my workshop at home. I enjoy the challenges and endless possibilities experimenting with clay. I have a particular interest in surface decoration incorporating collage and different printing techniques such as etching and collagraph.
Most of my current work is decorated in the green-ware stage (unfired) with different layers of slips, using handmade stamps and hand-cut stencils working toward the final design. I then often sgraffito through the slip to reveal the colour underneath before bisque firing. I mainly work in white stoneware and raku for my garden designs and sometimes use porcelain for my jewellery pieces and framed tiles.
