Rag Makers is a mother and daughter practice, inspired by the women in our family who spent their lives working in the rag trade, recycling woollen cloth in Ossett, West Yorkshire. Working with a family-run mill based in Huddersfield, we design and make bespoke lengths of woollen cloth made using pre-consumer waste yarns sourced from the UK textile industry. We carefully select the yarns, colours and weaves for each length of cloth. The unpredictable and unrepeatable nature the yarns used means that the cloth and the products we make from it are one of a handful, if not entirely one-of-a-kind in appearance. We make and finish all our products by hand in our studio in Holmfirth. We are very proud to be working with local craftspeople, using an environmentally conscious material to create bespoke textile accessories, made and finished in Yorkshire.
