Living Advent Calendar

Saltaire Living Advent Calendar has been run by Saltaire Inspired since 2006. Each year windows in Saltaire homes are illuminated with a festive scene with one scene being ‘opened’ daily from 1st of December until 24th December and then remaining to view until 1st January. With extra windows in some of the shops and businesses in the village visiting is well worth it right from the beginning!

The design of each window remains a strict secret until the day it is illuminated, although, from past experience, the variety of themes are likely to range from humorous to topical concerns to traditionally seasonal and wintry. Although the village has a large artistic community, the emphasis of the event is to let everyone take part, although we’re always happy to see returning regulars, such as the Primary School and churches.

The event attracts hundreds of visitors to the village to view the windows which are simultaneously 'opened' on Social Media, for those who can't get there in person. At the last count the Facebook followers alone totalled over 4000 people from over 45 countries around the world.

Participants Wanted for 2020 Living Advent Calendar

We are looking for Saltaire residents who can commit to designing and lighting up a window during December. This is an opportunity for Saltaire residents, children and adults, artists and novices, to come together, meet new friends and create a festive trail.
We are also seeking a small number of residents who would be willing to ‘host’ a window designed by one of our partners, and as always, we welcome windows from local shops and businesses - the more the merrier!

If you are interested in taking part, or have any questions, please e-mail your name and address by Sunday 4 October to Julia at:
