Angela Broad

My initial interest in mosaics was stimulated by visits to a range of archaeological sites including Pompeii, and Fishbourne Roman Palace in Sussex. I was fascinated by the traditional method of using tesserae to create an image and how the pieces worked together to produce pattern and texture. The organic nature of mosaic art appeals to me – how light and variation of colour interplay to give a piece infinite variety and interest.

My work is mainly created for an indoor environment and is a mixture of functional and decorative pieces including decorative panels, plaques , house numbers, coasters, mirror frames and furniture. I have created original designs in response to commission requirements.
