The Story of the People Powered Press (and an accidental world record)
Thurs 3 June, 8pm; Online event
In July, the non-profit People Powered Press — the largest letterpress printing press of its kind in the world — will be moving to Saltaire. It will take up residency in Salts Works, a brand new creative workshop space, co-working space and home of design studio Split. Join the creative director of Split and founder of the People Powered Press, Oli Bentley, to hear how the press came to be. Learn how what began as a desire to amplify local voices and design a ‘northern’ typeface led to the building of a press that was never planned and an entirely accidental world record — all thanks to a fortuitous cuppa.
Followed by a Q&A led by Peter Reed of Saltaire Inspired.
