Contemporary hand-built stoneware ceramics with abstract designs.
Anna-Marie hand builds her pots using stoneware slabs and layers of coloured slips. The flattened surfaces of the vessels provide a canvas on which to work. Fine detail is created after revealing shapes, lines and marks through wax resist and sgraffito. A muted palette of soft-hued colours evokes a sun-bleached effect, with a transparent glaze, giving a tactile, silky finish.
Inspiration comes from ancient structures, their weathered surfaces and the evidence of human mark making.
Alongside ceramics, Anna-Marie works in mixed media collage, producing abstract and pattern-based compositions.
