Jayne’s chosen materials are simple - second-hand silk ties and repurposed cotton which are recycled into art. She begins the design process with a drawing, deconstructs the image, then transfers the individual components to physically delicate, visually vibrant pieces of silk, which are machine stitch appliquéd to the background fabric. The insect world (particularly bees), country and garden life provide inspiration.
Past exhibitions include ‘Saltaire Arts Trail 2019'; ‘Green City’ at Kommune, Sheffield, and ‘Subterraneous’, North Pennines AONB Partnership, Bowlees Visitor Centre, Barnard Castle. Jayne was a shortlisted artist for Glyndebourne’s ‘ Tour Art 2019’ competition.
